Chapter bylaws require officers to be elected by active members. Until an advisor is appointed, every title below is incoming or in progress — and we would rather say so.

On titles

Phi Theta Kappa and chapter bylaws require officers to be active members elected by a simple majority of active members. Because the chapter has no appointed advisor, no one has been certified as an active member yet and no election has been held. Everyone listed here is organizing in good faith toward roles that will be settled properly once an advisor is in place.

The rest of the board

Full officer elections will be finalized once our advisor is appointed. Additional 2026–27 officers named in the July 28 announcement will be listed here on the same terms — incoming and pending election — as we confirm each person is still available to serve.

If you’re a Bellevue College student interested in an officer role, that’s a conversation worth having now rather than later.

Positions we need filled

These are the roles a working chapter needs. All of them are open, and all of them are elected once an advisor is appointed — so expressing interest now costs you nothing and puts you first in line.

Vice President

Deputises for the president, typically owns one major program area. Sree is pursuing this role, pending election.

Secretary

Agendas, minutes, attendance and the chapter’s records. The role that keeps a chapter auditable.

Treasurer

Budget tracking, funding requests, and the financial side of any fundraising the chapter runs.

Honors in Action lead

Chairs the research subcommittee: theme selection, source review, and drafting the research question.

College Project lead

Owns the Lead category — identifying a Bellevue College need and coordinating with college leadership.

Recruitment & communications

Outreach to eligible students, the interest list, social presence, and this website.

Role titles follow common Phi Theta Kappa chapter practice. Final officer structure is set by chapter bylaws and confirmed once an advisor is appointed.

The election, when it happens

An advisor is appointed by Bellevue College.
The advisor certifies which students are eligible, and eligible students accept membership.
Active members become the electorate — nobody is an active member until this point, including us.
Officers are elected by a simple majority of active members, per chapter bylaws.
The officer roster is submitted to the Society and the chapter is active.

What the full year requires

We would rather have too many candidates than too few.
